Erard Paris Harp Serial Number 2526 Year 1897  The appearance of this instrument also reflects the Objects of Art Harps of the Louis XV era. The Acanthus leaf scroll capping the fluted column is carved in a slightly more restrained manner then the earlier harps made in this style from the period.  The Louis XV style was always a style that delighted the fashionable world of pre-revolutionary France. With 46 strings, and a height of 183 cm tall, this harp is substantially larger than its 18th century predecessor, and the Fourchette disc mechanism in double action marks it as a 19th century masterpiece. Unlike earlier Erard Harps, it has no 8th pedal or sound hole shutters.  By the time this Harp was made, Camille Erard, the widow of Sebastiens Erards nephew and heri, Pierre Erard, had inherited the business.
