Erard Paris Harp Serial Number 2526 Year 1897 ![]() The appearance of this instrument also reflects the Objects of Art Harps of the Louis XV era. The Acanthus leaf scroll capping the fluted column is carved in a slightly more restrained manner then the earlier harps made in this style from the period. ![]() The Louis XV style was always a style that delighted the fashionable world of pre-revolutionary France. With 46 strings, and a height of 183 cm tall, this harp is substantially larger than its 18th century predecessor, and the Fourchette disc mechanism in double action marks it as a 19th century masterpiece. Unlike earlier Erard Harps, it has no 8th pedal or sound hole shutters. ![]() By the time this Harp was made, Camille Erard, the widow of Sebastiens Erards nephew and heri, Pierre Erard, had inherited the business.
