Géza Anda Géza Anda (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈɡeːzɒ ˈɒndɒ]; 19 November 1921 – 14 June 1976) was a Hungarian pianist. A celebrated interpreter of classical and romantic repertoire, particularly noted for his performances and recordings of Mozart, he was also a tremendous interpreter of Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms and Bartók.
In his heyday he was regarded as an amazing artist, possessed of a beautiful, natural and flawless technique that gave his concerts a unique quality. But since his death in 1976 at the age of fifty-four, his high reputation has faded somewhat from view. Most of his recordings were made on the Deutsche Grammophon label.

Early years
Anda was born in 1921 in Budapest. He studied with some of the renowned teachers of the 20th century such as Imre Stefaniai and Imre Keeri-Szanto, and became a pupil of Ernst von Dohnányi and Zoltán Kodály at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest.
In 1940 he won the Liszt Prize, and in the next year, he made an international name for himself with his performance of Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2. In 1941, he also made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic under Wilhelm Furtwängler, who dubbed him "troubadour of the piano."
In 1943, he settled in Switzerland. He was married to Hortense Bührle, daughter of Emil Georg Bührle (owner Schweiz. Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik and art collector), Zürich.

Middle years
In the mid 1950s, Anda gave masterclasses at the Salzburg Mozarteum, and in 1960 he took the position of director of the Lucerne masterclasses, succeeding Edwin Fischer. His students included Per Enflo, who later became renowned for his work in mathematical analysis.
As a performer, Anda was particularly noted for his interpretation of Schumann's piano music. The New Grove Dictionary cites his "charismatic readings of Bartók and Schumann". He was regarded as the principal Bartók interpreter of his generation, even if other pianists since his death have made more obviously exciting recordings of that composer's concertos. Although he played very little Mozart in his early career, he became the first pianist to record the full cycle of Mozart's piano concerti; he recorded them between 1961 and 1969, conducting himself from the keyboard.
His performance of the Andante from Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C on the soundtrack of the 1967 film Elvira Madigan led to the epithet "Elvira Madigan" often being applied to the concerto.

"From the outset of his career, he was what one might call a philosopher-virtuoso. In his lifelong quest for the perfect balance of head and heart, between intellect and instinct, he explored many facets of music-making." He was honored in 1965 by being named a Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and he also become an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music in 1970.
He died on 14 June 1976 in Zurich, Switzerland. His cause of death was cancer of the esophagus.

Concours Géza Anda
The Concours Géza Anda is a triennial international piano competition that takes place every three years in Zürich, Switzerland. It was founded in memory of the late Hungarian pianist Géza Anda by his widow Hortense Anda-Bührle. The purpose of the competition is to discover and promote young pianists who will pass on the musical spirit of Géza Anda. The Géza Anda Foundation provides winners with free concert management for three years after the competition (up to 200 engagements).
Jinsang Lee is the winner of the Géza Anda Competition 2009. He also won all special prizes such as Audience Prize, Mozart Prize and Schumann Prize. The 12th Competition will be held in June 2012.

Bryan,A few commentse2€a6First on canlilg it a e2€œhealthy urgee2€9d when a teenager wants to make out. Yes, they were created as sexual creatures but their urges are shot through with sin. They are not altogether free from sin and its fruit in their lives. And yes they all want to make out to some degree. However I have a few who fight what you call a healthy urge. They do not even date because they do not want the hearts of others to be sport in what is for most young people a recreational activity. Calling the sexual desires of my studentse2€a6any students, a healthy urge, is simplistic. The angels and animals paradigm is a straw men argument. You talked of Dereke2€™s honesty and used that as a defense (e2€œhee2€™s just being honeste2€9d). I agree it is honest. But honesty is no defensee2€a6maybe an excuse but not a reasonable defense. Honesty must have the glory of Christ and the good of our neighbor in its purview. Maybe his honesty does these things. My point was honesty must have a goal and it must be better than being provocative and shocking. Provocative and shocking can be helpful I recognize. You may think my concern with cool is silly. But I am quite willing to be drawn that way. I am of the opinion that I should be afraid of the epidemic concern for being cool as I should be afraid of wealth. For I assume it is not only hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven but it is hard for the cool man to enter. Both are a fight for me everyday. And if I am fighting them after 36 years so are my kids. When it comes to media and entertainment I am always asking them not whether or not it is a e2€œChristiane2€9d but e2€œwill it give you more of Christe2€9d? I am harder on Christian artists than those who are not. Patty Griffin may give them more of Christ than a Christian artist. I set up no rules for them save the questions outlined above regarding the glory of Christ and God who is all in all (Rom. 11:36).Also, my students and I regularly listen to music and watch movies and TV shows and discuss them. We call it Learn to Discern. And we want to discern what glorifies Christ and what does not by listening closely and reading slowly. Christ and his glory and our good and the good of our neighbor is always in view. I am uninterested in my students keeping their noses clean. I am not interested in what is permissible, I am interested in what will buildup others and what will display the incalculable value of our risen Savior.

this is silly! nowhere in the Bible does it iiacndte that things like making out are sinful! it DOES warn against doing things that will cause us to sin, and if kissing or spending the night (even if you're in the next room) puts us in a compromising situation we shouldn't do it. THAT is personal conviction. it's something like what i've discussed before on the topic of drinking the Bible does not tell us that drinking is a sin, however drunkenness is a sin, and so is taking even a sip when you know it will make you want a lot more. if that line is hard to draw don't do it. i believe God places within all of us conviction to determine what will and will not benefit us in our walk with Christ. for some, this means they will not kiss their significant other until they're married to avoid sexual temptation, for some, this means they will not take a sip of alcohol because they know they will not be able to draw the line or they simply do not feel right about it. but really our personal conviction is not everyone else's. yours is not derek webb's i venture to guess that derek had a very meaningful and godly relationship that God has obviously blessed abundantly and that many of us could learn from him. you have no idea the ministry derek webb's life could be in people's lives people that hear his music and see him on tour or interact with him. i'm not saying that he converts people upon hearing the line I wanna read the Bible and I wanna make out , but that line should not be judged and so scrutinized because it doesn't align with your idea of how a Christian should act. wake up and realize not every Christian is convicted the same way. and really, is arguing whether a Christian artist should mention making out furthering YOUR ministry?? http://xaqxrykxzo.com zrpzgufmal [link=http://tifnoxyegvt.com]tifnoxyegvt[/link]
